But now he's being forced to kick his knicker-munching habit after one particularly frilly pair got stuck in his intestines and he had to have a £1,162 operation to have them removed. When the vet operated on the two-year-old pet, he found not just his latest meal but two earlier treats from Mrs Hall's lingerie drawer too. 'There were three pairs in all – one of them almost complete. He has had a particular fetish for them for a while – but this time it seems his stomach just had too much,' said Mrs Hall. 'We didn't actually notice them missing. It was only when the vet looked at a swelling in his intestines that we found where they were. It's the first time he has actually got a pair stuck.' Her husband Cliff, 37, said Deefer has always liked to eat strange things but was actually quite picky about what pants he eats. He added: 'Even when he was a pup he loved to chew on unusual things. Socks were his first love. After that he moved on to remote controls for TVs and then he turned to ladies' undies. 'I reckon he has gone through about 20 pairs in all. He nicks them from the bathroom and usually ends up passing them with no trouble. Deefer is now recovering at the family's home in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire.
